E-Mail Settings

The system sends emails to communicate with customers, e.g. when a server is deleted or about to be renewed. So it is potentially important that this works properly - depending on how you use the system.

If you don’t have your own email server or don’t want to bother with configuration and maintenance, I also offer a hosted version here.

The settings can be found in the general settings:

Here is an explanation of the fields:

  • Server - the IP or address of the server
  • Port - the SMTP/S port to send to
  • Encryption - either TLS or SSL encryption should be used.
  • User - the authenticating username
  • Password - the password to the user
  • Sender address - the address from which to send the message
  • Sender name - the name under which the message is to be sent
  • Reply address - the reply address to be used in the messages.
  • Reply name - the name to reply to.

If you are not sure what to put here, you can try to let the system recognise it. But it depends on your setup if it works or not.

In the first field you can enter the address from which you want to send, in my case hosting@bennetg.de. Then you can click on “Detect settings”. You can accept the suggestions with one click.

You can check the settings by running the mail test. A test message is sent to your own e-mail address. If the message is sent without problems but does not reach you, check the spam folder and the log files of your mail server.
