Migration

After your datastore was migrated to another host or the credentials were updated, you need to change the connection details of your connection. The new details can be found on the datastore page.

API Token authentication is handled the same as username+password combination inside PVE & PBS. The Dashboard still displays it as Username + Password to be the same as the options in PVE.

After changing the authentication credentials a Ownership change might be needed. If you encounter a error, open a ticket: https://support.remote-backups.com/help/3435993331?f[subject]=Ownership%20change&f[message]=Please%20change%20the%20ownership%20of%20my%20datastore%20xxx%20to%20the%20current%20user.

ProxmoxVE

Since you cannot modify the connection in Proxmox directly, open the /etc/pve/storage.cfg file on your PVE Host and change the details there.

To update the password, use the pvesm set <storage> --password command. Replace <storage> with the name of your storage.

Proxmox Backup Server

You can change the authentication credentials in the GUI.

Use the proxmox-backup-manager CLI tool to update the configuration of a remote (each argument is optional and can be left out).

proxmox-backup-manager remote update <name> --auth-id '<username>' --password '<password>' --host '<host>'
